Default having trouble with !wire mod

heres what ive done so far......

-removed plastic inner fender
-disconnected wire harness and vacuum line
-diconnected the harness that connects to the caliper

now i cant get the wire pulle dup through the engine bay that connects to the caliper, and i just realized i dont have a "bi metal hole saw"

what are the solutions to these problems?
i cant get regular drill bits to get through the inner fender so if i cant get the hole drilled, im gonna hafta put everything back together and waste a day.
any suugestions?

Definitly use a Hole saw. It's your car, but you want the work to look clean.
The ABS sensor wire unplugs below the front frame.

YOu need to get the hole saw. Otherwise you're going to waste a lot of time and have a lot more frustration. That hole saw will cut right through the fender with a nice clean cut and with very little smoothing needed.

You will probably waste more time trying with regular bits (and rendering those bits uselessly mangled afterward) than you would just reconnecting everything and getting a bi-metal hole saw bit. I picked up a set of five different sizes at home depot for $30 or so. You can get a single one for less than $10-well worth it. Also, I had trouble with the ABS wire, it's snapped on to a connector down there, just slide/unsnap the connector off the little bracket and it'll pull out just fine. Hope this helps.

If you're not afraid of re-pinning weatherpack connectors, you don't need a hole saw. I just did the !wire mod this afternoon, and I drilled two small 5/8" holes with regular drill bits, pulled all the pins out of the weather connectors and fed the wires through......then re-pinned the weatherpack connectors (no special tools needed, wife's bobbypin works fine ). This way I didn't have to cut a huge hole in my fender to fit the connectors through, and the two smaller holes are very difficult to see.

That's the way I'm doing mine. It will be a lot cleaner after you finish too

If you don't use the 1 3/4 hole saw you might as well stop now and put it back together.

Seriously.

That connector is basically impossible to get out from the top.

After my dad pointed it out, it was much easier to get to from under the car.

Default wire mod pics

Here's a few pics of how I did the !wire mod. I drilled a 1/2" hole and a 3/8" hole instead of using a hole saw and hacking a big 1.75" hole in the fender. I took the pins out of the weatherpack connectors and fed the wires through, so the holes only had to be big enough for the wires.....didn't have to worry about cramming connectors through the hole. Engine bay is dirty......sorry I didn't clean up for the pics

This is basically what I did as well except I drilled a 1" hole/ 3/4" grommet...the pins come out very easily with the correct tool or a paper clip. I did one connector at a time and as long as you are careful to put the pins back in the correct slots, you'll have no problems.
