Default Firehawk hood question

I want to put a Firehawk hood on my car but I'm a little concerned about the quality.I put an SLP hood on my buddy's GTO and it was really, really wavy.I'd like to know if anyone's had experience with the quality of the firehawk hood. Also is it really necessary to buy a different front bumper when you get the hood?

I have one, it's being prepped and painted now. As for the bumper, I've been told you can cut your bumper to fit. I won't know for sure until mine is ready to be installed.

As for the condition of the hood, it looked good, but mine had some shipping damage that needed to be fixed first.

I bought my Hawk new in 02 and i believe even new the hood wasnt in the best shape. THere now is a couple bubbles in it in the ram air part of it in the front which u can clearly see when standing in front of the car. Also a couple other peels and whatnot underneth the hood.

My Firehawk hood is like glass.

There was an issue with some Firehawks having bubbles in the paint because SLP was painting the fresh hoods that still has gasses "leaching" out of the composite material. They didn't let it cure enough before they painted 'em. So the bubbles were trapped under the paint and it caused bubbles. It's only on some of them.

The hood is longer than stock. There are some minor cuts that will need to be made. No sweat. Plus, you need the "badge" right at the front of the hood. There will be a 1/4" difference in level. The badge makes the transition seemless. You can see it in the photo.

yes you have to cut the bumper,I did it myself but I would not recomment you to do so ,as you easely cut back too far, than you have to fill it up again.I believe slp sells some mold for it along with the hood ,not sure though just heard it!!

Like mentioned before you will have to cut the bumper. I had to cut the bumper and it was pretty easy. Just put your hood on, close it, but not on the cover and run a tape line on the cover where you have a nice gap between hood and cover and then cut away. I used a plastic cutting tool that we have here at the body shop though. Also I have had 2 oem firehawk hood and both of them have been smooth and in great shape.

I'm a bodyman as well I was mainly concerned with how wavy the hoods are after the one I put on that GTO.

I have a Firehawk hood on my WS6 and I don't think the bumper was cut. Maybe it is but I never noticed.
