Default Unpainted hood....

I'm looking at an aftermarket SS hood but I won't be getting it painted for a long while. Unfortunately it's the gray primer color and not black(leaving it black would like fine on my car in my opinion).

Would leaving it the white/gray color on my car look super gay and tackey or would it look ok? It'll stick out like a sore thumb in my opinion but I wanted some other opinions.

My car color is maple metallic.

I see several people on this site with primered front ends or hoods, granted a lot of them look like track only cars. Either way, yeah it will look wierd but I dont think it will be much of an issue if you plan to get it painted eventually. OR you could just not put it on your car until you get it painted, right?

Well I wouldn't be getting it painted for a quite a while. I don't know, I think I'll pass on it. If it was black I'd be all over it.

If anyone has pics of their cars with non-painted/primer hoods please post them up.

IMO I would leave it in my garage until it was painted, but thats just me. There is a girl that has a riced out Integra with an un-painted bodykit that has been on the car for over two years and it looks horrible.

I must confess... I have taken my car out a few times with the hood un-painted, yes it is tacky and gay, but oh well... its the price I pay for haveing enough horsepower to put anyone who laughs at me in their place.

I'd get it and store it, then get it painted, that's what I did with my hood

When I bought my hoods for my last two Camaro's neither of them were painted until several months later and both of them sat in the garage until then. Ricer's put unpainted body parts on not us, but that's just my opionon.

Ever think of just spray painting it with some close paint? Just so it doesn't stick out AS bad? Just go get some spray touch up, and do a nice rattle can job. It won't look good, but it would look a lot better than primer.

like Sgt.Spuds says--get some primer and dupli-color inna can, and try to make it look a bit better if you want...or just leave it til you get it painted properly.

A friend's $500 95 GT. The hood was bent, so he had no choice, but you get the idea.

i'd store it if you can wait. My car was NBM at the time so it was fine on my car. Well it would have been fine, but I had a different shade of blue on my door and my front bumper along with key marks down both sides.

Well the hood sold so that makes my decision a tad easier. If the hood was the black primer then I would've gotten it because the black would've looked ok.

Oh well, I'll take that hood money and get a LS6 or Weiand intake

I put the powerbuldge hood on my car and it was unpainted for a bit, it looked so horrible that we just had to paint it.

Turns out the guy gave us the wrong activator, so most of the peral stayed in the cup, but at least the hood is the same color (kinda) as the car until we have a chance to paint it right.
