Cutting A4 shifter & MBA ball question
Cutting A4 shifter & MBA ball question I searched several times first. I know I have seen a thread in the past where someone has cut their automatic shifter rod so that the top/ball is closer to the console. I'm interested in doing the same. The writeup was something about being careful to only cut the plastic because there is a linkage inside the rod.
I think it would look great with a black MBA ball on top of a shortened stick. So, who has done this?
Also, those who do have a ball shifter for their Automatic, since the stock one has a button which engages the lock in the steering wheel - are there any problems engaging P/N/R/D with them?

Has anyone successfully used a manual/automatic shift ball adapter with a manual MBA ball? I called TR today because they still have a bunch of the manual shift ***** but they don't sell the type made for autos and couldn't give me an answer about whether their manual shift ***** would work with an adapter.

Verdad Gallardo Yeah well like I said in my first post, I want to make sure the manual ball adapter WILL work because TR doesn't sell auto ***** or conversion kits and won't comment if they'd work. Plus they're expensive and I'd be irked if it didn't work.
Sanchez, I'm planning on buying some leather to do the shift boot addition as well. After some searching I got a couple finds.

So we're gonna just avoid page three for a little while and hope someone will reply with the info because I know someone here has cut their shifter. I've seen the pictures somewhere around here.
