Default How to get waterspots out of glass?

Hey guys (and girls ) Spring is here and it's beautiful out! I just gotta get my car to look as good now... My windows are marked by waterspots that look like sun-baked sediment, and I have no idea how to get rid of them. See...my car has no choice but to sit out in the driveway until I build a shed so I can displace all the junk in the garage. It's noticable on the driver and pass windows, but it's just downright bad on the dark t-tops and I would love to get them clean. I did some searching and I found two cases: 1. was where people had some sort of chemical or hard water get on and, 2. was 'just' water or rain. The former needed to use some extreme measures, and the latter used claybar, etc. I'm not sure how 'bad' mine are, but they're something that I can feel when I run my finger over them. I have not tried any 'products' yet other than carwash and windex, so feel free to recommend any favorites and please recommend a course of action. What should I try first? (note: my detailing supply has been exhausted, so if you guys give me a list of things, I can get it all at once)

Thanks,
dreammmatt

get some ought gauge steel wool (very fine) and use regualr window cleaner and give it a scrub, it will get the water spots off w/o scratching the glass

Have you tried to wash the windows with Dawn dishwashing liquid, dry with paper towels and use windex with newspapers. Sounds like you have gotten some type of wax or something on there and just need to clean it off.

I'm interested in knowing what other people have done as well. Out where I live the water is like, 90% calcium, 10% water, so I have very gnarly waterspots on my windows. Even the steel wool/windex didn't work completely for me, nor did the clay bar.

Yes it does, i've used Mothers chrome polish before. One time i was reading the back of the bottle and it said it worked on mirrors and it does a great job. I also decided to try it on glass and it'll take off the waterspots there as well.

I highly suggest you do, the mirrors will look like new as well as the glass.

I have etched water spots and NONE of the methods even began to have ANY effect until I tried AMAZ glass cleaner. Even that stuff requires a lot of work. I used it with my PC on high speed and it did begin to remove my spots (where nothing else did anything at all).

Has anyone tried the glass polish from autogeek on these etched spots?

I like the sound of the chrome polish, I'll prolly go pick some up later today; didnt get out yesterday cuz some friends were in from out of state. When I do it I'll see if I can get any decent before-and-after pics so people have an idea in the future what it can do.

I tried every method lister here, vinegar, alchohol, cleaner wax, steel wool, and rubbing compound and none of it had any affect. I just tried the chrome polish and it worked wonderfully

Hope is lost, that stuff worked great on my mirrors but as for the windows it is an entirely different story. Didn't do jack crap on them. Guess I gotta get the hard stuff. Any retail places carry 1-maze or barkeepers friend?
