Rock chips...what are my options?
Well I used 1000 grit paper but you should really use 2000 grit or higer paper. 1000 grit is too risky for my liking but it was all I had and I didn't feel like running and picking up some. With the 1000 grit it would be easier to burn through the clear coat if you aren't careful. I mixed some water and soap in a spray bottle and kept the bumper and the paper wet I pretty much sprayed the bumper every few seconds. For the time I spent it came out great. When I polished I used some Tropi-care swirl cutter I had and tried polishing by hand. It came out ok but I wasn't happy so I pulled out my PC and used the Swirl cutter and it did a great job. Then I followed up with some Tropi-care polish. Came out really good and you can't even see the chips unless I put my face right up to the area and look hard for them.
If you are uncomfortable wetsanding on your paint you can also try the Langka (chemical) or the Norton (wetsand) kits to smooth the spot back down.
