Thumbs up !molding .... <3

Wow, just did the !molding mod and I must say... it's leaps and bounds better than the stock look. I was weary at first, but it was a decent day and I didn't want to have to do it when it gets 80+ out. Fingers are broken for sure. Also, I don't remember anyone mentioning how muhc of a PITA it was to get the emblems off! That was the hardest part! Now for the pics!!!

Oh yeah, unless it pertains to the molding, I really don't care for opinions. It's a v6 and a daily driver. I know it looks like a jeep with the suspension and I'm sure someone is going to say get rid of the white letter tires. So there, I've already got the opinions down!!!!

Yeah, my fingers hurt more from the emblems than the actual molding.

I did mine last night too, randomly. I was like, you know I'm tired of the side molding, my doors are screwed up anyway. So I took it off and then claybarred. I haven't seen it in the day light yet but it looked better already. I want to see how long it will take my bf to notice it's gone

Basically, the molding I yanked off. It was pretty wasy to get it off and with a little technique I was able to keep 96% of the adhesive on the molding. What ever was left, I used my thumb to "roll" the adhesive off.

The emblems were attached with a different type of adhesive, it was much more stiff and alot thicker. It easily took me 20-30 min just for each emblem. I used fishing line for the emblems, kinda like a saw. It broke alot, but if I didnt use it im sure the emblems would have snapped into a billion pieces. I then used goo-gone to get any loose remains. I washed with dish soap to make sure all the goo gone was off, then I gave a "super-fast" coat of nxt.

The car is a 2000. It sits outside all day long and has never seen a day of garage time. There was 0 paint discoloration.

I was really worried about that too, but then I figured I'm a freak and if there was discoloration i doubt anyone would notice. Much to my suprise, it was perfect.

Mine is also a 2000 with LOTS of miles and lots of time in the hot NC sun. I didn't have any paint problems. There was a very small line that didn't come off with soap and water, but came right off with the clay bar.

IMO using a heat gun is the easiest way to do this. It heats up much faster than a hair dryer.

I didn't even use a hair dryer....that's probably why my fingers feel like they are broken

Looks good! If your going to go nascar style you should paint your rims black or get some of those black steel wheels. Really, I think it would look better, almost cool, well maybe even cool. Someone is going to hate on me for that one. lol

LoL, don;t sweat it. I'm not really trying to go nascar style, I just wanted white-lettered tires and they are labeled by nascar. Nothing I could really do about it. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Seems everyone is generally in support of removing the trim and emblems, including myself but I wonder if anyone has done this mod and afterwards wished they had not?

Just a curosity thought

I like my molding and emblems and plan to leave them on...

If you look at the front fascia on the WS6, there is a line that starts near the DRL (turn signal). This is the start of what goes along the door. It continues that line to the back of the car...

As long as the molding and emblems don't break when you take them off, you can easily re-apply them. Any regrets can easily be catered to.

Encouraging thread. I think I will do mine this weekend seeing it is going to rain Sat and Sun. Good time to pc compound, polish and wax!! Washing my car Wed I noticed the molding doesn't really shine like the rest of the car. It has got to go.
