Installed new plastic hood (pics)
I installed my new WS.6 style composite plastic hood last week. It comes pre-painted and just bolts on in place of the original. The paint match and fit are really good although it takes a little adjusting to get the gaps aligned.
I was amazed to see a 15% increase in highway gas mileage. I had used improved gas mileage as a way of convincing "she who must be obeyed" that it was a good idea to upgrade to ram air. But I never expected my mileage to go from 22 mpg to 26 mpg just from installing a hood.
One thing I noticed that others may be able to help with - the car got hot inside. It seems like there's not as much air coming through the vents (not a good thing in Florida). The raised section of the hood is right in front of the vent intakes and I'm wondering if it's creating a low-pressure area there that cuts down on air flow. There are four holes drilled in the back edge of the hood presumably to allow air to the vents but maybe there should be more.
Have any of you with WS.6 style hoods (either factory or aftermarket) experienced this? How many holes are in your hoods for air flow?

I can't really say if the hood makes a difference, its been on there since new, and I have nothing to compare it to

is there a problem with the volume of air when you are stoped like at a light? i was just thinking if it does not blow any harder when the car is stoped then i don't think that it would be you hood because if the car is not moving then there is no moving air the cause a low persure problem. i don't just a thought may be it will help

Seems like you should be able to say what brand hood it is can't you? But not where you got it from precisely? Moderators? When people search "hood" this thread will pop up but be kind of meaningless in that context (w/out PM'ing you).
anyway - Nice car man :-)

I've had two LS1's (a Red 1998 Z and Mystic Teal 1999 T/A) that did the same thing occasionally... Sometimes I would even put it on high and could hear the blower motor blowing like hell but the "doors" inside obviously weren't opening up properly...
Happened on a friend's 2001 NBM Z as well...
Maybe the vacuum line (in the engine bay) that controls (sends vacuum to) the a/c was knocked a little loose during the hood install???
