Claybar question


Clay *might* help bring back some of the luster to the surrounding area's, but Im sure you're going to feel some nicks from those area's and Im sorry, but you wont be able to do much w/ the clay, or polish and waxing.

Oh, and DO NOT RUB HARD with the clay bar. Make sure the surface is very wet and glide the clay bar over the paint. Rubbing hard can do more damage. Keep kneading the clay bar to get a clean spot and if you drop it trash it and buy another.
The marks on your paint are a combination of bugs, rock chips, and just various bits of road debris that have actually embedded themselves in the paint. I see that stuff in dark colored cars everyday. Clay will make it look a big better, but only a true rubbing compound will make it look any better. And doing that isn't cheap or easy.
