My bumper looks like that

Rock chips and bugs.

Give it a whirl though, definitely can't hurt.

+1 on the rock chips and bugs

Clay *might* help bring back some of the luster to the surrounding area's, but Im sure you're going to feel some nicks from those area's and Im sorry, but you wont be able to do much w/ the clay, or polish and waxing.

Give it a go. It can't hurt. I have rock chips in my black paint, but it made it smoother for a little while until it rained and I am talking the rain with dirt in it. I hate that ****! I can't wait to get out of NM and go somewhere that I can keep the WS6 cleaner than a few days. Good luck. Let us know how everything goes.

Looks like rock chips to me for the most part. I have them too though not quite as bad. I'm thinking of having mine repainted soon.

Oh, and DO NOT RUB HARD with the clay bar. Make sure the surface is very wet and glide the clay bar over the paint. Rubbing hard can do more damage. Keep kneading the clay bar to get a clean spot and if you drop it trash it and buy another.

You don't need anything more than water to keep the claybar lubricated. The more soap or cleaners that get into the claybar, the shorter lifespan it will have. I detail cars for a living and I use pure water to clay. If anything, maybe one tiny drop of car wash soap, if that.

The marks on your paint are a combination of bugs, rock chips, and just various bits of road debris that have actually embedded themselves in the paint. I see that stuff in dark colored cars everyday. Clay will make it look a big better, but only a true rubbing compound will make it look any better. And doing that isn't cheap or easy.

I thought it says on the box to NOT use water? Isn't that why it comes with that spray? ANyways, i just clayed my car this weekend. Worked very well. But it looks like your bumper could use some new paint. Good luck.
