All you gotta do is keep it simple: an SLP grille insert, paint-in your rear Camaro letters black (instead of using the urethane letters that'll trap in car polish), carbon fiber nose emblem to get rid of the ugly red, white, and blue one, and maybe even clear corners while using amber bulbs. Keep your rims and just get the edge of the spokes painted black so that they resemble the 35th Anniversary SS rims. And in the future, go for the Sunoco hood.
Guess that means that the 4th gen SS's shouldn't have gotten their emblems that resemble the older ones either. Billet grilles, Manta stripes, and old-school Chevy bowtie emblems must be bad ideas too. By your own logic, he shouldn't be allowed to do the Sunoco cowl hood either. It's for the same reason that Ford did the new retro Mustang, Chevy built the Camaro Concept, and Pontiac brought back the GTO and Challenger Concept: Heritage.
Just because the newer cars don't look exactly like the older ones doesn't mean you can't use the emblems that would pertain to them.
