Default Appearance mods with a SOM Z28?

Just looking for some input on what I could do in the appearance category with my car. So far I havent really done anything besides OEM SS" wheels and lowered it 1.5 inches. Since these pictures the windows have been tinted so that no longer needs to be done. Also the exhaust is now in front of the axles so tips arent necessary either. Excuse the old pictures...any help would be great!

I know that it's been done a million times, but I vote for the "berger" style tail panel, but that's ok because I think it should have come from the factory that way!!! Satin black- I think SOM is one of the best looking colors with this mod as well.

Just my $.02. beautiful car.

It's so purty!

Clear corners look super clean on SOM maros. That grill leaves much to be desired. Maybe a license plate so you can drive it.

I agree with the grill, my vote is for black billet with a RED bowtie (like the ones below but with the red bowtie).

What about Whistler modding the headlights or Halos?

Of couse a hood and spoiler...

For hood ideas look at my old post:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ht=camaro+hood

Maybe old school emblems:

1969 style

My car with 1974 style.

This looks 10 times better than any hood for a Camaro. I want a Camaro just so I can throw one on.

Louie are you talking about the hood, grill, headlights, or clear corners?

Okay.... if it were my car: I'd reccomend picking up some mirror polished stainless steel rear inserts from DragonZ28. My buddy Matt (GOT SOM? on here) just did that to his SOM SS and it looks amazing. Maybe an SS spoiler and grille too. I'd say maybe a black billet grille or an SLP grille. I'd take the Z28 emblems off the side to clean up the look a little bit. Oh yeah, and that SLP emblem under the left taillight looks out of place. It works on the car, but needs to be moved down an inch or so and to the left about 2 inches.

The Harwood hood. I stole it from the link Demonbird posted above. There is another hood like it, I think called the Mike Moran hood. There is a pic with a black Camaro that has it - it's fricken sweet too.

Alright well here is where I am at so far: not going to do hood or spoiler because it really expensive to begin with and even more so by the time you get someone to paint it and match SOM to the rest of the car. I definitely want it to be unique (which I think the color helps a lot) and I love that Harwood hood but I would rather spare the huge dollars for performance. Scotty Z, do you think there would be a noticable difference between chrome and the mirrors? Also any idea what DragonZ28 charges for the mirrors?

What I am pretty set on:
a) Different grill (should I go chrome/mirror or black?)
b) "Camaro" rear inlays (Again either black or chrome/mirror...help me decide)
c) !Rear emblems and old school (1969ish) Z28 emblems on the fenders

Also should I do clear corners or mess with the headlights at all? Any more input would be awesome...thanks for the help guys!

That car has the potential to be one of the best looking Z's on the board based upon the color alone. Go for the clean look. Too much is bad. I would remove the SLP emblem because it looks out of place, and they are not a very nice company to some loyal customers. As stated above, get a hood. I would get an OEM SS hood, or the Harwood hood pictured above. The Harwood is not overdone, and flows pretty good with the Camaro lines. Also, if you can swing it, get some Fikse wheels for that bad boy. Some nice rotors with caliper work done would be nice as well.

Please, just don't change the headlights to Halo style. That is very rampantly becoming overdone, IMO. While you're at it, pick up some mirror emblems and stuff from that guy

Nice car, man!

What I would do if I had a Z (especially an SOM one) would be this

Sunoco hood with black SS stripes
LT1 SS style spoiler
Whistler headlights in gloss black
Gloss black rear fill ins
SOM/black 69 emblems
Black wheels - probably FM5s or another clean 5 spoke with a little lip
Clear corners and side markers tinted just a bit

Just my .02

A) BLACK Grille HANDS DOWN

B) Stainless Steel CAMARO inlays (they are like $60)

C) GOOD CHOICE !

I would say go with a black grille. Chrome or polished grilles stand out too much in a negative way on SOM. As for the rear inserts from DragonZ28, I got them off Ebay for $39. Hell of a price, I know. Look up his name on there: muffinbuster. They come with automotive adhesive tape on the back, already cut perfectly and ready to be put on the car.

As for the rear of the car, I'm also removing my rear Z28 emblem to clean up the look a bit. If you're interested, I still have my 69-style Z/28 badges that were on my 2000 Z for a couple months. They're already recurved (they're made to fit the 1969 fenders and require some custom re-bending to fit the 4th gens) and ready to go. Let me know if you want them.
