Waxing over water spots

Default Waxing over water spots

I just washed my car and let it dry, of course there are some water spots, is it all right if i just wax over them?

I wouldn't. The minerals will etch your clearcoat and then you will need to polish them out.

If you're using a cleaner wax, try a little spot & see if it removes them. If you're using a regular wax, I'd try to get rid of them first.

Should I wash my car again to get the spots out? or get a wet rag to wipe them away

If they are fresh, just from washing the car, I'd use some Meguires detail spray on the car first. Unless you have a filter on the hose you're washing with, the water will have some minerals in it & it's almost impossible to dry the car before some of the water drys and leaves spots.

I think I will just get a shamie rag (I got one laying around here some where) just re wash the car and wipe it down. I just let the car air dry last time.

Nope, do not wax over waterspots. Waterspots can/will etch the paint.

If they're fresh you can remove them with some distilled white vinegar and/or claybar.

yeah i learned this the hardway, i waxed over some waterspots about 2 weeks ago, but nothing too bad happened they were probaly fresh, but sometime this week I will probaly do some kinda of 3 step system to have my car all nice looking.
