Default engine wash advice

My engine is filthy durty and i am really scared to clean it cuz of our opti. Any advice on how to really clean it without the opti going out on me?

What year is your car? Only 93-97 had an Opti-spark. 98-02 have individual coil packs.

Grab a ton of rags and some free time. Might take a while but in the end its worth it.

95 Z28. so i don't hose it down then? Just get a clean rags and a bucket of water and start cleaning the engine bay?
