The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
well, lets put it this way. first time you do it, you will screw up. it wont look too good. but if you have more than enough tint and enough time, peel it off the next day, and try again... if youre willing to learn then it will take you a few times to get perfect. side windows are pretty easy. the back window is tough since its so big, so youll need to do it in two halves...
here are some tips, start with one of the side windows:
1: first make sure windows are clean, and get make yourself a soapy water mix and put that in a spray bottle
2: cut a piece of tint bigger than the window. spray the window with the soapy water mix (be generous) peel the tint off its backing and cover the sticky side in soapy water too...
3: now slowly place the tint over the window. try to even it out with your hands as much as you can to eliminate as many bubbles as possible. when thats done use a squeege to remove whatever small bubbles are left; softly slide the bubbles to the closest edge of the window
4: get a little flat razor and carefully cut the tint to your window size (careful not to scracth the glass!) ... also be very careful in the corners... you can use the squeege to flatten the tint down while you cut corners
5: after your tint is in place, softly squeeze out any bubbles with the squeege...
6: let dry, dont open your windows for a day or two till the soapy water dries... obvioulsy in sunnier areas it will dry out faster than if you lived in a cold area
7: every morning check out if any bubbles are in the tint and squeeze them out softly (residue of the soapy water)
8: since its your first time and you probably screwed up, asses the damage, see what you did wrong, learn from experience, peel off and do again!
only when you feel you got the side windows done right, then move to the back window. the back window needs to be done in 2 or preferably 3 strips to eliminate bubbles.. do the back window from the outside rather than the inside, to eliminate damage to heater wires when you remove it!
hope this helps.
I paid $120, with a lifetime warranty.
I'm happy I paid the $ for someone else to do it, since 'they' (the pros) messed up the 1st sheet themselves. hehe....
