meguirs scratch x sucks! need help!!
or maybe i just dont know how to use it correctly. i know it has to be a good product cause a majority of the people on this websie swear by it, so please tell what i'm doing wrong.
i apply it with a cotton or a micro-fiber applicator depending what i have on hand. i squeze out a pretty nice size circle of it on to the applicator and start applying it ot the car. i work it in pretty well, i work on a small area of the car at a time, in some area it pretty muchdisappears, but in other ares it doesnt, and it dries up, in those ares that it disappers it looks ok, not great but ok. and in the ares where it gets dried like a white thin layer of paste, it wont come of the car!!! so i get my drying mf towel and go over it, then go over the area with some gold class wax. it comes off. but this stuff just doesnt work well for me. i gave up and just put 2 coats of gold class on my car, it looks good. i use only micorfiber towels, and i do it in the shade. it's hot outside, but i do it in the shade.
any ways, what do yall think i'm doing wrong?

you are either using it wrong, or trying to get it to do something it was not designed to do.
never let it dry. if you do, a little QD will take it off, or a little cleaner wax.
small amount of product on a foam applicator pad, cool work surface.. work it in well .. work it in a cross hatch pattern, using even but firm pressure .. you have to work it hard enough to break down the product .. most people make the error of not using enough pressure, and not properly breaking down the product.
you have seen pictures on here, so you know it works ..
depending on how bad the swirls are, once may not be enough.
or, bring your car by my house next weekend, and we can play around with it.

I am with you on this product. The smallest of hairline scratches or swirl marks do not come out for me with Scratch X. It was a waste of money in my opinion. Im not trying to get out key gouges or something!

I will say this one more time .. and, I am not attempting to be a Meg's apologist here .. (I am at times, but this is not one of them )
I am only harping on this because it is a very good product for use by hand, and I hate to see people write off one of the best things available for use by hand. there are a ton of people that can't afford or don't have access to a PC, and this is a great solution for them, and I hate to see someone turned off the product without ever trying it.
if the product is not working for you,. then it is one of two things, and ONLY one of two things.
1. You are trying to get it to do something it was not designed to do.
2. You are using it incorrectly.
period. no other options.

I second Gipraw. With ideal temperature, correct application, patience, and consistency, you'll get results nothing short of remarkable.. by HAND. I wish I had some clear pics of my spoiler; I did half with SX and the other was untouched. With over 20-30 passes and about an hour and a half, I removed 60% of the scratches. It wasn't all, but this was by hand over a large area. It was DAMN good and I'm impressed.

ScratchX works... PERIOD. If youre trying to remove minor defects and swirls by hand then you are doing something wrong.
I already replied to you in this thread and explained what to do:

You come off as some spokesperson for another brand or something by the way you bash ScratchX. I, like Gipraw, hate to see threads like this because ScratchX is a great product and works very well... Ive been using it for years.
