I have a dumb question, what does a pearl coat do? Do you do that over the paint color and under the clear coat?

yay Im a hero! Pearl coat gives any paint job a pearly shiny finish, then clear coat goes on top. Heres a pearl white ext model and heres a pearl white

I am pretty sure it is the sunset pearl which is house of kolor and the paint code is PBC31
If it is the tangelo orange it is PBC32...slightly more orange than the sunset pearl but both are pearl basecoats.

A pearl coat can be sprayed mixed in with a base coat, or on top mixed in with clear. The paint job in the thread is actually just a pearl base coat meaning it already comes mixed in with the base color. The pearl is what gives it the glowing effect when the sun hits it. When you see ghost flames done correctly it will usually be just pearl mixed with clear and shot over a base coat in the layout of flames and then a final clear shot over the whole thing. When viewed without direct light the flames are hardly noticeable until in direct light where the light reflects off the pearl.
