Default claybar ?

Im going to claybar and wax my car for the first time this weekend, and my question is how wet does the car have to be and how much force do i us. I read on here not to dry my car after i was it. true or not. Then do i was the car after i clay it. Im nervous and i dont want to mess up the paint any more than it already is.

You won't mess up the paint. Use a spray wax to lubricate while rubbing the claybar - should come in the kit. If you did buy a kit, just follow the directions and you should be fine. You will be able to feel it pulling the dirt out! Works really well Keep rubbing until there is no more noise/rough feel.

I wash the car, dont dry it and then use then clay bar with the detail spray, you need the car to be wet or the clay will just stick to the car.... you dont need to use alot of force. Then after Im done I wash the car again, then poilsh and wax.

Just dont press to hard or if you do have a lot of contaminats in your paint or bar it will certainly scratch the paint, I know because I did it. Nothing scratchX or a PC wont fix though.

Lots of lubricant and very light pressure.

Default I was going to ask that!

I also have never used a clay bar, so this is very handy info, thanks!
Just a couple of quick question, back and forth, or round and round?
Also how many times should a clay bar be used?
I guess its best to start at the top and work down(less contaminants?).

never round and round.

just make sure you continually check your clay, and knead it to keep it clean.

I always use my soapy water for lube for my claybar, is that okay?

I personally recommend soapy water, especially for those who don't do a second wash after claybar. Soapy water is cheaper and you'll have much, much more of it than any QD. QD makes an excellent lube though.

How did you apply it? For most surfaces, you only need light to no pressure. Also, a properly-lubed claybar will not stick to your paint - this is the main cause of marring when claybarring. Also be sure to re-knead your clay every so often.
