I wash the engine while it is at engine Operating temp, once I spray it down with the soap and water I close the hood to let it bake the grease and grim off the motor, I then shut the hood and wash the rest of the car. I pop the hood and rinse the engine compartment. Once I get home everything is dry and it looks brand new. Has worked for me for years and its easy.

Yep, I use the high pressure soap and water, I hold te gun about a foot away from everything and do quick sweeps over the engine so I dont get water inbetween the conectors.
I just sparay everywhere under the hood, from front to back.
