Default SS hood

Has anyone dealt with one of these before?

Looks pretty neat for about $150. I wanted to make mine black anyway, so this would work nicely, I think. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would buy one if it was the scoop only, and not the platform under it like that

That was straight out of the box, just sat it on the car...

I am going to go with the Sunoco instead, so if you want it PM me. It's brand new, never installed. Maybe we'll meet up after all

No, just no. HELL no.

First of all, if you just have it taped on and do it the ricer way, then it's going to look like complete ****. This is a given. If you'd do it the right way and have it molded to the hood (like the product was meant to be used), it will end up costing as much as an SS hood anyways. Think about it: you'd be putting a molded fiberglass scoop onto a steel Z28 hood. With the heat dispersing through that hood while the engine operates, do you want to take any chances of that heat coming up and potentially trying to "pop off" your molded on scoop or create bubbles along the seams in the paint where it was put on?

To put it simply, you are better off simply buying an aftermarket SS hood and having it painted. Those mold-on scoops that you're talking about not only look like hell once they're on, but they're too much time and too many problems for an inferior product.

Hmmm, good point. I didn't even think of them being different materials and having to deal with the temp differences...

I saw the first ones on ebay, and haven't seen them anywhere else.

I'm not sure I want it molded, since I want it to be a contrasting color, and would like a prominent edge. Just trying to imagine how it would look. I guess just taping it on could create a very noticable edge that would, instead of being prominent, just be tacky...
