This ruined my day!!!
That sucks. Reminds me of a day I was heading to work. I met a semi with a low boy hauling a dozer. We were going oppisite directions, I'd never figured this happening. When we met I hear a very loud bang and then a bad pain in my upper arm. After regaining all my senses and getting the feeling back in my arm I start checking things out. What happened was a gravel, I don't know how big flew into my truck(I had my arm up on the window, you know looking all pimp, lol) and a gravel hit me in the arm and then hit my door. It put a dent and a big chip in my doors window frame. That was after hitting me on the arm, and it sounded like a 22 being shot next to me ear. Needless to say I was pissed. My arm was ok, I don't care about the truck it's just my beater. But after thinking what would've happened if it'd hit my windshield or me in the head, yeah, could've been bad.
I filed the claim w/ my insurance company, they had an adjuster look at the car & had me take it to 2 of their "preferred" shops. The final verdict was around $3300 in damages to the paint, caused by rocks from a trailer being pulled by an idiot. My insurance company paid me, minus my $250 Comp deductible, they finally tracked down the other guy's ins. company, they are trying to subrogate the other co. I still may get my $250 paid to me, if the correct insurance company ends up having to pay for the damages.
Due to the time it will take for repairs, the car is not going to the shop until I am ready to put it away for the season.
Ifryrice, the estimate was for a good portion of the car to be painted & the R&I of the appropriate parts, as well as a new w/shield. With shop rates here from $50-$60 an hour, it is nowhere near enough to do a color change, the correct way...Not that I'd want that any way.
