This ruined my day!!!
Driving on the interstate in pretty heavy traffic (65mph) & I hear rocks pelting the front of my car. I quickly spot the offending vehicle, a truck with an empty flatbed trailer, that has a bunch of gravel & concrete chunks on it, not tarped. I speed up to pass & BAM!!!! Bigass star in the middle of my windshield. I get beside the guy, put down the window & start yelling at him. He won't stop or follow me, so I got a phone number off of the truck & a plate number. I get to my exit & look the car over, tons of fresh chips in the front bumper, hood, wind shield, roof & rear spolier...My car was not "perfect" before, 66k miles, way above average looking & it got blasted bad... I decide to hit a Chevy body shop & have it looked at. The estimator says they have several a week, because of all of the raod construction in the area and careless load haulers.... The result, a $3600 estimate....
I am filing a PD report tonight at the advice of my insurance company...
Hopefully I can get the truck owners insurance info and get them to pay for the damages on thier liability coverage. Here is a pic of the rock chip mobile...No damage pics.
Good luck man.
I would guess that MAY be the reason your truck driver didn't pull over.
Either way you slice it, if insurance is involved you will have to fight it out with them. They are quick to collect premiums and slow to pay out. When they finally pay out they find a way to short you somehow.

I was driving under a bridge where they were redoing the bridge. A bunch of rocks fell on the front bumper of the car and the hood. I filed a police report and notified the construction company as well. That same day after work, I went to 5 different body shops trying to get as high of an estimate as I could. I basically went in there and told them I dont care how much its going to cost me, I just want it done 100%. Lowest estimate was $800, and the highest was $2800.00. I presented the construction company with the $2800 estimate, and they wrote me a check. I then took my car to a friends body shop and he charged my $400. Hood and bumper look better than new, and with the extra cash I bough some new rims and tires and had money left over.
