mine cracked around the air vents, i think it was from the heater at winter time.

im at 100k and still no cracks. just in the summer i've had to religiously use a sun visor. once its cracked idk of any way to keep it from spreading, other than possibly a sun visor.

So is this from sunlight, or heat?

I've heard that using silicon protectant stuff can cause vinyl to crack, but that's probably just internet bs.

I have been debating on removing it and fiber glassing the thing and painting it black i just dont know how difficult it is to remove.

cracked dash

Mine cracked on the 2000 z/28 I checked with local dealer they wanted $169.00 for it. I tried gm parts direct and got one for 100.00 now need time to install it . Oh yeah, always had windshield shade in when parked didn't help . Chevy counter guy says they will crack sooner or later!

I had two crack in my 99 ta. I finally made the dealership cut the pins on it and use round velcro .I think they crack at the pin points the most often these were hairline cracks. My car is always garaged and never sits out in the sun very long. Shame on gm crappy dashes,the cheapest easiest to scratch interior plastic I have ever seen.!

I had a small rock crack in my windshield and the heat cracked it all the way up, then a few days later I came out to the car and my dash was cracked from the left side of the top vent all the to the windshield!
