Damn good job, it really looks like it could have come that way from the factory.

I agree with a lot of people expecting it to look grainy and tack as hell, however it is neither of the two. Excellent work on that. I'm also interested in the steps you took to make it look so clean.

I believe the paint is regular ol' Dupont but I will double check on that. The process againg is fairly simple, use a fillerprimer to fill in the texture......sand it down and re-apply if necessary. Then just do a basic base coat/clear coat job, wet sand it and your done. Thanks again for all the compliments guy, I have seen people do this mod to their cars before and I guess you could say I learned what not to do by lookin at some of them. I wanted to do something simple, that did not stand out to much, yet still looked good, I think I pulled it off.--Tony

Good looking paint job and as mentioned before, very tasteful. Thanks for not painting them red or yellow. They match up quite nicely.

After you wet sanded, what compound/equipment did you use to buff?

Ok, you used filler primer...is it a 2 part you use a gun with or is it just that rattle can stuff? I used spray can filler primer once with an automotive BC/CC and it hardly had any adhesion.

Wonder where that idea came from.....lol (very well done)

So much for being the only kid on the block

I just used the factory OEM paint (or should I say my body/glass man), but curious how the dash will hold up! Since it is stationary, I imagine you shouldn't have any cracking issues, but I do have one small hairline crack on my driver side A-pillar. Luckily, the system and interior has held up extremely well over the 2-year period, despite my 40+ passes at the track.
Zaino every few months and that is it......easy maintenance

that is nice, really nice. Care to offer your services? What would you charge for something like that?

This thing took 7 mos to completion(including interior trim), and after sizing, re-sizing, etc. --- too much of a PITA. Maybe wiring and amp rack construction, but the glass/paint I would leave to the professionals.

Unfortunately I learned a great deal during this construction project, but wouldn't dare undertake a project of this magnitude. If you car is a daily, it'll never work! The car was down for (3) days gutting and sizing!

Good news: Has performed extremely well in both SQ/SPL

Bad news: 400# of stereo/dynamatting which plays havoc on the rear suspension
Cost prohibitive....the enclosure/amp rack/amp shell /install/
ballpark $2,200 back in 2004

I dare say I wouldn't consider this ever again, and the dynamatting is well over 80#. Once I upgrade the rear suspension, then I'll be go for engine mods
