Default Fake!!!!!!

the other day I saw a C6 with a ZO6 hood I was like sweet but then I saw it was a vert. After seeing that I was thinking how some people looked down upon people who did similiar things with Z28's to make them look like SS's. So I was curious if people felt the same way in regaurds to Vette's.

You mean like this one that Tbyrne Motorsports built?

They never made a Zo6 convertible, so anyone that makes one is making a completly new vehicle, as long as they dont call it a real Zo6 I see no problem with it.

Yeah, I personally think it's pretty sweet. Especially with that nice blower under the hood...

yeah but alot of people who put the SS hood and spoiler on a Z28 seem to put the SS badges on it too. i like that vette . . . as long as they don't put Z06 emblems on it

Personally I love that Z06 Vert!

I know 2 people in town here that have C5 Z06 Verts. They're real Z06 cars they made verts.

If GM is STUPID enough not to build what people want....why not have people make custom cars the way they want. That's what the car hobby is all about.

If anyone says an old Yenko car is awesome, or a new Berger camaro is awesome, but trashes someone making a Z06 Vert.....you're full of crap. Those cars were never built by the factory.

The one thing that does bug me about the GM community is the SELF RIGHTEOUS attitude that if something didn't come from their PERFECT GM minds in the factory...then it's not KOSHER! If you have that mindset, then they might as well not bring back the new Camaro because *they* decided *you* didn't want it.

Sorry for the soap box....the narrow-mindedness just gets to me a little. They car hobby has always been about mods and custom cars. People have been making clones for decades (not many people don't complain about beautiful 67-69 SS clones).

I don't see any problem with making a convertable into a ZO6 clone. As stated above, GM should really make them available from the factory. As far as putting the badges on, it shouldn't be done.

they were built by DEALERSHIP's with GM's permission and liscencing and all that bullshit, a magazine building a Z06 vert or a private person buildin a Z06 vert is different cause most of the time they aren't given anything by GM. don't get me wrong a Z06 vert looks bad *** but a Z06 is somewhat like a 1LE camaro, it's made more so for racing than cruising around lookin good in the sun, isn't it? and last i checked a vert of any racecar is a piece of ****.

personally myself i wouldn't buy a clone of anycar, if i couldn't get the REAL thing with matching numbers i wouldn't buy it. just my .02

There's a difference between lieing about the trim of your car, cloning a trim of a car, and simply tacking on the hood from a better car onto another car.

Unless there were Z06 badges, he's fine. I don't frown upon Z28s with SS hoods myself. By that logic, Z06 rims should never see an f-body! Parts are parts, not identities.

I have alot of respect for what Tom did with his C6. The body was done right and it's really going to make some people scratch their heads. Now if he had of just stuck a Z06 hood on the car along with some Z06 badges and called it done, that would have been kinda gay.

BTW: I saw my first C6 Z06 in person today. It was blue, the new Z06s are down right badass in person.

I hear ya, but not everyone can afford a new Z06. If you go to corvetteforum, you can see the prices those cars are going for right now !

I don't see anything wrong with it at all. If I had a C6, I would definitely look into converting it into a Z06. I wouldn't do the badges because I don't like to advertise that the car is something it is not, but it also doesn't bother me when others do it. That's just me though...

Cool pics, but I doubt the person you saw had a Z06 hood. The scoop is built into the front fascia.

Who cares really? Its not your car, When some has a car and they mod it they can do what ever they want to make it apear to them. It doesnt bother me one bit because I know Car modding is a nice hobby and has helped quite a few people, as long as they arnt street racing I think tinkering is nice. The only thing I care about is when people make clones or have a w68 firebird and call it a trans am. or a v6 camaro and call it a mustang or something like that. My neighbor has a 04 mustang v6. its red he converted it to look like a gt. He spent less money for it then a gt, including the swap + tint and new wheels every five seconds, he even has a aftermarket exhuast that sounds better then the V6 firebird/camaro magnaflow exhuast.

My point is, would you rather see a 02 z28 with a ss hood ss spoiler that has Z28 decals in the grill, doesnt say ss at all then a honda civic with a unpainted boddy kit and green rims? If you awser yes, SHUT UP!

Yeah I sat in the Z06 at the local auto show in November. Really great seating position. If I had about $100,000 sitting around, I'd buy a Z06 and keep the rest.
