but I say if they're going to hold you in place better than the crappy stock ones during spirited driving, then who cares what others think!

The stock seats suck so bad that you could get a yellow seat with black accents, with red underglow at the mounting rails, and a wing on top of the headrest, and it still wouldn't be rice.

I have a set of MOMOs. I get mixed comments about them. But I can care less cause I like them.

I put these in my Trans-Am and HATED them:
Keeping the power rails was easy... It's just the seats were cheap and had a rubbery feel (they're the ones sold by Summit and Jegs).

I think racing seats are not ricey at all. The stock seats suck *** when you are throwing the car around in the twisties.
I plan on getting a Recaro when I get some money. They are more comfortable, safer and hold you down. Of course when you get the racing seat you need the 4 or 5 point racing harness.

Racing seats are great! They hold you in place and allow you to upgrade to a racing harness to hold you in even better! I wish I could put a harness in my car, but those will not work very well with the Camaro seats. Someday I will get new seats and harnesses. It's on my list too....... Ah how that list never seems to get shorter......
