Swing-Out Cup Holder Broken
I use my swing-out cupholder a lot, and now the detent mechanism (the clicker thing that holds it closed or open) on it has broken. I also found a spring laying on the floor mat that probably came from it. It's pretty much useless without the detent.
I went to the dealer, and of course they were no help. They would only sell the complete console for almost $200.
Has anyone else had this happen?

I work at a dealership and one of the springs is available without the console, there r 2 though. The other does only come with the console. Here's the part # for the one that u can get alone-10281309. the only pieces of the cupholder that arent available is the one spring and the actual holder portion.

Check with local parts stores, most have some sort of spring assortments in the help section. i havent actually looked at the spring but judging by the pic i have, a small carb spring might work.

Did something actually snap and break? Or did the spring just fall out? Any way you could take the piece out and have a look? I'd go with the "pick your part" shops you could probably get it for $1.

I'm willing to bet your spring just came out. it happend to me before but it's a pain to put it back in. the problem is one end the spring mount's to is can just slid off the hook.

Thanks for all the replies.
I'd post the fiche from newgmpartsusa.com, but it's not the same as the fiche my dealer had. Dealer's showed the pivot bolt, a big spring around that, the little double-hooked spring (which I do still have), etc. Hmmm...
Dogger, if it happened to yours too, I bet it did just fall out. Did you have to pull the console out to get to the pivot / mount bolt from the bottom? I'll see if I can figure out where the little hooked spring goes.

I fixed it while it was still in the car. it did require laying the seat down and getting in it upside down(sorry pics just use your imagination) in can be done. if you remove the little cap though I think you could get it.
