Can this crap come off?

I was wondering if this stuff could come off my chrome wheels or am I stuck with it. I have these little tiny groupings of dark silver specks on my wheels in some areas. When I run my finger over the area it is rough and feels like its on top of the chrome. I dont know if it eroded in these areas or if its some crap off of the roads. Is there a good product to use to get this off??? Thanks

sounds like your chrome might be pitting. on some of the cheaper wheels, what happends is the chrome the factory put on the wheel wasnt heat treated/applied properly so the chrome heats up and expands and when it cools it shrinks. thus creating those litting pits on the chrome. this is not a good thing and can lead to flaking. either way theres not much you can do about it. ill take some pics of my SS wheels

for you later and you can compare and tell me if thats it.

Sometimes its the quality of the wheels that causes it, but acid wheel cleaner (there are alot of popular brands that carry these spray on products, if you are using one, stop and only use car wash soap & car wax on chrome) and road grime or dog **** left on too long can cause it too. If you keep them pretty clean, it will be a while before you have any flaking. Waxing helps protect chrome too.
