Default Best $20 appearance mod yet!

I bought the Mother's Powerball and Meguiar's Plast X for my headlights...

I only spent about five minutes total on them (had to do it before the wife got home and freaked out because I was slinging polish all over the kitchen ) but it made a huge difference in person...

I am sure they can get even better if I sand first and then repeat but I am very happy with 5 minutes of work and $20 spent...

Here's two pics where top one is polished and the bottom one is not yet:

Look at the black part of the lights to compare the lens' hazziness... Looks MUCH better!

I'll get better pics (on the car) tommorrow... You can kind of see the hazziness in the sig below as well...

Nice job. I have a powerball already so I will probably go buy that Plast X stuff and try it out on my lights.

My '97 van were yellow and cracked so bad you could hardly see at night. I followed the sticky DIY and they came out great and are still holding up. Total cost was less than $20 for Spa Depot kit and sandpaper. After searching, it seems there is no other way to get them clear and to stay clear.

It because the polish has a very light "oil" in it that wets out the tiny microscratches the polish puts in the plastic. Oil dries up..TADA..haze.

The only true way to get the scratches/haze out is to use white rouge on a special cotten wheel and buffer.

I ran a test about 3 days ago on transparent plastic. Going to take a peek at the results when I get home. I did notice that the PX'd parts have a "wet" look to them and guessed the same thing.

Yep, it'll come back within maybe a week or two, sometimes just a matter of days. You'll have to sand them down and then use the plastix.
