Default wax plastic piece before sail panel?

Does everyone wax the plastic piece in front of the sail panel? At the bottom of that piece it is textured. It looks like it is suppose to have protectant on it like what you use on the weatherstipping. What does everyone do about this part of the car?

That part of the car sucks. Can't keep it looking good. I just got some carbon fiber covers off ebay and put them over them. That or you can just have them painted.

Mine still looks pretty good. I waxed it several times to bring it back. On the bottom of the piece is what I am questioning since it is textured I don't think you are suppose to put wax on that part. Somebody let me know what all you guys do.

Mine looked like crap so I replaced them w/ new GM pieces. They were only like $5 each if I remember correctly. Can't remember which sponsor I bought them from.

That piece right behind the window and in front of the sail panel roof. It is mostly smooth black but at the bottom it is textured on mine where it lines up with the weatherstripping on the door. I wanted to see if everyone just waxed the top part and left the texture at the bottom alone. I managed to buff one of them back to life and the other I didn't work on it long enough but I will hopefully this week. Just wondered about the textured part mostly.

I snapped a quick pic. I don't have any kind of 'texturing' either:

This is the sail panel. The metal behind it is the B pillar.

Chevygirl, it almost sounds like you're missing this piece. It's hard plastic- made to look like weatherstripping to marry up with the weathersripping that runs along the top of the door. I apologize if I'm being a little slow or missing something.

Yes the part you circled. It is textured slightly if you look at it side ways you can see the pebbles. I was told to put dressing on that one little part and wax the rest. I was told not to wax the part you circled. I just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing and not discoloring something. I put the same stuff I dress the weatherstripping on that part circled. Is that what everyone else does?

I like your car black Z28! The wheels look great. Are those oem wheels? 17 x 9's?

Mine's actually fairly smooth. You're making me feel guilty for not treating this part special (I've only ever washed it). I use a product made by Mothers called 'Back to Black' which is made for hard plastic trim pieces.

well that is called weatherstripping and thanks for the pics I needed a visual I was lost. And yes you can wax it it wont hurt anything just as long as you wipe the wax off when it is still wet. JUst makes the job way easier. I recommend liquid lustre wax. Mine are smooth by the way no texture in them at all.
