I say repaint the panel under the lid electron blue, the LS6 electron blue, get rid of the K&N filter and get a blue Holley one, and erase the bird on the lid.
Or, subsititute "electron blue" with "dark silver" or "charcoal metallic".

2) Gloss black LS6 IM
3) red smooth bellows
4) maybe some red/black FRC's
5) keep the red bird on the LID tho, that looks good
both a red IM and that red lid base just look like too much, and if you don't get FRC you can consider parts of the coil packs to color, or even the spark wires. the MSD's are red and would be a red highlight.
This is kindof what I'm doing, only im red/black/polish instead of black/red.
My FAST is shiny black now but not in yet. Without FRC's or other highlights, a big bright IM draws your eye directly to it IMO and takes away from the "theme" look.

Not sure how rough it is, but if you do, I'd say take the time to sand it real good, its worth it I think, especially if your going glossy.
[edit]I'm not sure the LS6 sands like the FAST does, it might not be the same material..If it is and does, then yeah sand it. If not then...maybe not.
