wax question i just got my first car and im new to his whole mod and detail thing
i was wondering how often should i wax my car
and after i wax it does it matter if i just wash it ever week?

Is the car new or used, condition of the paint and color, does it stay outside or inside? Depending on the condition of the paint, it might need to be washed and then "clayed" to clean the paint and then apply the wax or polish. In between the times you polish/wax, a good wash followed by some detail spray works great. As for products there are alot out there. I have used Tropi-Care, Zaino, Mequires and Mothers all will good results. Also sent you a PM.

do you mean like weekly?

I wash the car once a week. Also a quick detailer with a microfiber towel works wonders. Just after you wash and dry. 
I only use meguires or mothers stuff.
Your first full detail should wash claying at the same time. Dry. Then a cleaner wax then a wax. orbitals are great for all this. Saves time.

If your car is a DD, a wash every week or two is fine. A wax, depending on your environment, should be about once a month for over-the-counter waxes. Note that if your washing isn't mild enough, you will strip your wax. Even a mild wash will put a bit of wear on your wax, hence the relatively "frequent" waxing I suggested (especially if you wash your car 4 times a month). Adjusting your washing/waxing schedule accordingly will give your the best results for your particular car!
