not a flood car, I am the third owner, previously it was in arizona and colorado, the title is 100% clean, the carfax came up 100% clear.

Amazing deal man, go with the cheaper things first, fuel filter, injectors etc. then look at the pump. Do you know the pressure for sure, have you tested it?

Dropping the tank, especially the metal ones still used in '98 isn't fun. You might as well plan on the set-up you're gonna use, my bet is that the fuel pump or the wiring that's patched in is the cause.
