Default Change or Not?

I have a 98 Z28, 45k miles, mostly stock except for exhaust and air intake. i like the fact that it is stock but im getting bored with it. should i change the wheels, do the berger panel and add some appearence mods here and there, or should i leave it alone, keeping it stock to give it the glory it deserves as a rare STOCK, lower mileage F-body?

I would say that if your bored with it...Yes,go ahead and change a few things. If your concerned about originality, only do things that are reversable...You can always swap back the stock wheels, intakes, shifters,*****,billet accessories..etc...

Buy a 2nd rear panel to do the Berger mod that way you have your original still in original color...

And if you really want original, you might want to swap out that Flowmaster catback for a stocker and just install a cutout.Performance and sound when you want it,back to stock sound when you want that as well.

Good luck on your choices!Nice Z28.

just stick to some mild appearance mods, that way you can go back to stock if you desire, i wouldnt worry about staying stock though. and get a supercharger while youre at it too

im still going to do full bolt on's and stuff like that, all that can be reversed. i want headers, ORY, LM1. but im going to keep all the stock stuff. as well if i do any appearence mods they will be reversable. but its more of a should i shouldnt i. i mean, should i leave it alone and be happy with it for what it is, or make it mine. what i want. different.

Nice set of wheels in the right offset, size, design, ..., will really make a big difference in how you see your car.
But choose something different. Not the same ol' ZR1, or SS, or Z06 wheels.
Hmm, I just read yer last post above here, after I wrote all this, ...

That' s a great color, I wouldn' t paint anything over it unless, MAYBE I decided to go with some silver racing stripes.

That's probably the most noticeable difference I've made to my car. Besides the big commitment I made last summer of painting the manta and deck stripes (which I love), my wheels have been the biigest visual difference. Besides that, all I done to the exterior appearance is the Corsa exhaust and SLP SS grille. And, after a year and a half on the board, I still haven't seen another F-body with my exact wheels. Although, I've had a lot of PMs from guys wanting to get the same wheels for their F-body.

ok guys since you dug up my 4 month old thread, my decsions are, im going to paint it NBM, if i can ever figure out a way to paint the engine compartment without dropping the engine, im going to put 17X10 and 17X9.5 Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's with 275 and 315 rubber, one way or another if i paint it NBM or leave it MTP im going with the white hockey stripes down the side, not the Dick Harrell stripes but the ones that end in the middel of the door, im also going with the VFN Sunoco hood with the sides of the scoop with a white stripe on them, then for the interior, im going to **** can the tan bullshit and go with ebony out of a 2002 Camaro and have the seats recovered in white leather with the Z28 logo ebroidered in the headrest. im still going to leave the top and sail panels black along with the mirrors. ohh yeah, im also putting "346" in the hockey stripe on the front fender and painting the grooves on the Z28 logo's on the fenders and berger panel white. not the whole letters just the horizontal grooves inbetween. also doing the flat black berger panel.

Dude, whatever you do, DON' T change the overall color. If you want a NBM car sell this one to someone who' s looking for that color, and BUY a NBM car, there a plenty of those around!

just get new wheels.

if you're hellbent on a new color - there's plenty of better colors than NBM, since you'd be paying the same price for any color... like electron blue

i really cant decide, right now im a broke college kid, so i think im going to leave the color on it for now. then later on down the line when i get a place and tools and what not to do this i will pull the motor and paint it right. then if i ever decide to go back to MTP i can.
