Default what color temp HID?

Hey guys...

With all this talk of the HID kits available right now...i think i'm gonna bite and jump on the wagon here...but i can't figure out what color temp to get?? I like the blue look, but am afraid that the 8K are a bit too blue?? The kits that are offered from Nathan are in either 6 or 8K...but i noticed that the 6's are not blue...SOOooo...i was wondering if i could get some input. LEt me have it...

depending on the kit, 6k should be white with a hint of blue. I always prefer more white light than color but everyones preference is different. I have a Kaixen 6500K kit. It has a slight purple to it and it looks pretty classy.

6K will give more light output than a comparable 8k. I know that a lot of 8k buyers say they have plenty of light but those are the facts when simply going off kelvin temp and not taking the housing and everything else into account.

All OEM manufacturers use inbetween a 4000-4500K temperature HID bulb (daylight white, think flourescent bulb white). The different tints you see are from the cut off area on the projector where the light is refracting into its seperate components. That is why you get glimpses of Purple, blue and sometimes yellow.

Im running the 8000k kit from Nathan and they put out a nice bright white light. The blue tint is noticeable in pictures and from oncoming cars, but not in-car at all. I like the blue look, so these were perfect for me. Also, thats my car in Nathan's signature if you want to see a pic. There is another side by side comparison of my car on his website with stock bulbs and the new 8000k kit as well.

I have some more, but my camera isnt that great and gets out of focus easily. These were a few of the better focused pictures. If you are looking for a particular type of picture, let me know and I'll snap it for you and post it.

this is mainly because of the projector housings you are seeing in them. its a personal choice, 6 will be a little more purple, and 8k will be a beautiful blue color. id go with 8k.

Here ya go, these might help. If not, let me know what kind of picture you want and i'll try to get one this weekend.

The middle picture was taken before I adjusted them down a little to minimize the glare. Now, they are fine and no oncoming vehicles have problems with glare either. Like I said, if there is something in particular that you need a pic of, just let me know. Hope that helps!

I thought Nathan had them up to like 10k or something like that, it was just extra money. You might want to PM him.

I have the 6K on my car and I couldn't be happier with my choice. It's completely white with just a hint of blue to it.
