LED Interior HELP!
I wanted to change all my interior lights out from the yellowish white to red in my Z. Well I bought 5 194 LEDs and 5 74 LEDS. And I did not have good luck at all because I installed the 5 in the gauges and they are so dim. (pictures below) I put 2 74's in the hvac and they are dim as well. The leds I put in my door panels are bright and I like them.. And to the shift light. Its so dim my camera wouldnt even pick it up to take a picture.. Can someone help me???
I bought my LEDs from a non-sponsor and the 194's are focused bulbs while the 74's are wedge bulbs(flat top)
please help me.. Im lookin for a bright red interior lighting for not an insane amount of money..

I'm going to say that a few of them are not lit up due to being installed incorrectly. They have a "built in current limiting resistor and diode to protect the led from reversed polarity installation". Pull out the bulbs in the areas that are very dim, turn them 180 degrees and reinstall them. If they are all lit up, and it's still dim, then .

Look the stock cluster is not going to let those bulbs look brighter than that. For the doors it will work perfect, but for the other places you should try the ones they sell at Ledgauges.com, Im doing that too, but I hope it works like they say (that they are brighter). I just did mine and I dont like it at all, here is a pic of it. I want it to look like the stock trans am, is a cool red everywhere.
This pics is at night, like it cant be brighter than that
If you find a fix for it my friend PM me please

It does look like you probably have the polarity wrong on some of them. On the cluster it's easy because the +/- leads are all consistent (up vs. down I mean).
Pop your cluster in w/o the lens bezel on it. That'll make it easy to pull in and out until you know you're all set.

When i did mine i bought the wide viewing angle LEDs for my cluster but i don't think thats your problem. I'd agree that i think you have some of the bulbs in backwards. I don't know where you bought your LEDs from but mine own some of the other bulbs sold. Mine are so damn bright, i wish i could get a pic but my camera takes horrible night pictures, they're always blurry unless i turn the flash on.

not to steal the thread but could someone tell me is it possible to do this mod on say a 1996 grand am, i figure if i cant find a stereo with the orange lighting that i can live with why not change over the rest of the car to match it.
