Anyways Tainted, lol, what color was the rug before and then after? I ask because I cleaned the crap out of one of my older camaro carpets (darkish gray), scrubbed it down and all that and it kinda faded. I know you are gonna say i used something too harsh, but, I would not use anything I could not, for the most part, gargle with in my own mouth.

I am a poor college student so i had to make due with what I had.....
-Hard bristle brush (5 inches length)
-Car wash Soap
-Power washer

My carpet had coffee stains, dirt ground in, etc...
Took the carpet out of the car completely, sprayed it down with the power washer,
Used a little elbow grease to really get the car wash soap into the carpet, power washer back and forth from one end to the other.....
It turned out really well, only pain is the time it takes to dry, expect at least 24-48 hours to dry...

I use a Meguiars interior brush with Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner Plus.. spray on with a bottle and let soak for a couple minutes then aggitate with the brush. After doing that I use a Bissel Little Green Machine to pull the solution out of the carpet.

For the price of renting a cleaner you can buy a Bissel Little Green Machine.
