Also, on the smaller gauges you can not use full sweep gauges because part that needs to be read would be covered...

There would be a similar problem for the tach...

Keep in mind this is a PAINT not Photoshop Job... so it looks like crap, but it's a basic Idea..

EDIT: Hosted a bigger one... I'd have to Putz w/ it for a while... TH eoverlap is kinda difficult.

The only part you'd prolly be able to overlap is the bezel. Or the trim ring. If you were to overlap a Half a gauge, you'd have to take the gauge appart and move the guts around. Or have it overlap an inch or so.
