I think i want the factory looking ss hood. I am going to paint the scoop black and also put a single black stripe down the back. Any pics of this setup?

I am not trying to imitate an ss, i just like the looks of their hoods better than mine. I just don't like the looks of the 3 inch ss hood. Any pics of a regular ss hood? One other quick question, i know this isn't the wheel forum but what do you think, 17in ZR1 or 18in Z06?

Sorry no pics of the regular SS hood. As for the wheels they BOTH look good, I have 18" Z06's but the ZR1's look great every time! Tough choice.

yea, thats the same dilema im going through. I think i could get the Z06's a little cheaper on the ebay but i am going to make that money up in the cost of tires. I think i am leaning towards the ZR1's just because i don't have painted calipers and you would be able to see those alot more with the Z06's. Any idea on what color i should paint them?

I'd say 18" Z06 on the rims...

Unfortunately, I don't know of the best place to get a stock style SS hood... I personally would buy one off of ebay AFTER researching the crap out of the company and contacting people who bought the hood.

Examples of sellers with high amounts of feedback:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-...41743791QQrdZ1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Camar...40629603QQrdZ1

Keep a sharp eye though, don't buy crap like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-94...39412909QQrdZ1

It differs from the factory styling...

Don't buy the RK Sport one, it's expensive and different than stock as well...

If your first look at the hood makes you feel something is different, it probably is so just move on...

Now, I've done my best to help answer your question but I'd like to throw in a little opinion...

I LOVE the look of a LT1 SS... so more power to you for going with that look.

ALTHOUGH, I LOVE the Harwood Hood on LT1's:

It fits well and you can order it straight from Summit...

Another option is the Sunoco Smooth Cowl they just made for LT1's:

VFN makes it... I LOVE that hood for LS1's... So much so I have one:

BUT I feel that my FIRST CHOICE on an LT1 car would be the Harwood Cowl and my SECOND CHOICE would be a tie between the stock SS hood and the Smooth Sunoco hood...

Anyways, there's a few options for you...

Hey, thanks for the input and also for not making my decision any easier. I don't know what i am giong to do now. I think that the harwood is a little cheaper but i really want to paint the scoop black and do a single black strip down the back. Know of anything i could do to a harwood hood to give it a little contrast so its not all the same color?

IMO, the Harwood Cowl isn't high enough for that...

MAYBE two stripes (like the '69 cars with the cowl and stripes had)...

If it were my car I would get the Harwood and then put the old school 350 emblems on the side of the cowl (like the 69's) but get them in the black letters w/chrome outlines.

If you want to put side stripes along a cowl I would say get the Sunoco... Those are known for side stripes:

Finally, I LOVE an SS hood with a Manta ON AN LS1 CAR... BUT the LT1 cars don't look as good with that style stripe for some reason (probably since the scoop is more triangular), to me at least.

EDIT: After a quick and crappy photoshop I changed my mind, I think the Harwood could look good with side stripes:

I'd still throw the 350 emblems on there as well...
