you need some foam polishing pads and polish and then a final sealant or wax

I'm going to assume that since you are looking for articles on how to buff a car, you have never done it before. I'm also going to assume that the polisher you got your hands on is a full rotary machine (it spins the pad at a decent rate of speed).

I'll give you a little advice - and please, take it or leave it. If you've never used one before, practice on a car that you don't care about. They can get away from you if you aren't careful, and you could end up needing a repaint because of it. I have a full rotary machine, but I've only used it twice as I also have the venerable Porter Cable 7424 (it just jiggles while it wiggles) - it sees the majority of the action, and is damn near idiot proof.

If you are looking for accessories, I get a lot of my stuff from Classic Motoring Accessories. A quick jaunt around on autopia.org would also reveal some good information.

Do not use a rotary on your car if you don't have considerable experience.

if this is your first time using a rotary, and you are planning on doing your car, I would recommend not plugging the machine in, and just using it as a big handle for the foam applicator.

Seriously.. if you want to learn how to use it, go to a junkyard, buy an old hood, and practice on it, a lot, prior to using it on a real car .. find someone you know that has experience with one, and have them show you ..

you can burn your paint in less than 10 seconds, and before you even notice a problem, if you don't know what you are doing ..

as for supplies.. you can check out ADS, meg's online, autopia.org or several others ..
