Tony.
I ran my LT1 without one for over 3 years. No cooling issues, even in 100 degree weather.

I don't see that it would make a big difference if your trim that small little piece.

Also - on the metal air deflector, wouldn't that be bad if you seriously bottomed out? The metal wouldn't give therefore tearing up where its mounted?

Bottomed it out twice so far. Sounds really bad when it happens but it's still straight !!

hmm, you should just ignore all the scraping and leave it, its not worth cutting it, because you will run hotter

you can cut the excess that hangs down lower but odnt remove the whole thing. i do this on all my camaros and dont have any problems with cooling and that one inch you take off realy reduces all the scraping.

Yeah, plenty of people get away with shaving a couple of inches off them. That really shouldn't be a big deal. I ripped mine off, but the air coming from the nostrils has a straight shot to the rad on my car.

Exactly how it should be put. DONT touch it! I get pissed even when I scrape it just cause I know how important it is! If you drive the car how it should be and take it easy over parts, or go a little slanted, you shouldnt have a problem with scraping it.

And its not noticable when looking at the car just standing infront of it.

It may deflect some air into the radiator, but I think it's main function is to create a low pressure area under the car and in the engine compartment so that the air is then drawn through the grille opening. Air is somewhat like electricity, it follows the path of least resistance. A high pressure area tries to flow into a low pressure area. The same reasoning applies to cowl induction hoods, a low pressure area exists at the windshield base and the air is drawn into the rearward facing hood opening, even though the car is moving forward.

Some people that are lowered 2"+ can get away with it. Other than that I don't recommend it

I contemplated trimming mine because it scraped on everything. But I never really got a chance to do it, probably a good thing too, knowing how my luck goes.
