Default Anyone cut/remove this piece?

I just wanted to see if anyone has cut/remove this piece in pic. I just don't like how it looks plus I keep scraping it. Will I have any issues if I remove the whole thing? What if I just cut it even like I have illustrated in the pic with the red line?

Leave it alone and let is scrape. That is the air deflector that forces air into your radiator.

Your car may run hotter without it, I vote leave it.

Leave it, won't make that big of a difference appearance wise and it will make the car run hot.

Every bit you cut will impact cooling. You might be able to trim that little bit there and be ok, I am not sure.

I would not recommend it but if you hate it that much you could try it. Just buy a spare because it might cause too much heating.

I had to drive my old 89 V6 bird without about 2" if deflector (there was an added 2" lip for ground effects cars) and it made it run ~15 deg hotter on the highway, during the summer, of course.

Or another better alternative you might like is painting it or something of that nature, without cutting of course.

I was curious with my Camaro and took it off. The coolant reached the red zone lickety split in traffic and I had to pull over. I went home and put it back on. Keep in mind, this was Southern California weather in summer.

Definately DO NOT remove it!! I was involved in an accident in my car a couple years ago and when i got my car back from the body shop it did not have the "air dam" installed. I called the body shop to ask what the deal was and they said they couldn't find one for it but it wasn't a big deal b/c it didn't have a function anyway. (mind you this was at a Chevrolet dealership bodyshop!!) Well of course everytime i drove the car it would overheat and the A/C would cut off from time to time. So i did my own homework and ended up buying the air dam off of ebay for like $20. Ever since then my car has not once overheated nor has the a/c cut out.

Yea, like everyone said it is pretty important, it deflects air up into the radiator instead of just swirling around under the car. My guess is you could cut it where that line is and still be fine but you might want to pick up an extra one just in case.

Do a search on E-bay for stainless steel LS1/LT1 Stainless air dam. Or search for the seller camroonanj. If you cannot find anything wait a week and search it again. The company that makes the pieces rotate there different products weekly on ebay.

I wouldn't cut or modify the air deflector. When I bought my car it did not have a air deflecter on it at all. Can't believe it only statered to over heat on the express way with the A/C on. I put the stainless one on and what a difference. They also say its better than stock cause it doesn't bend at high speeds. I think I payed $130 for mine. Its really simple to swap out, I think it was like 8 or 10 10mm bolts ? You don't even have to jack the car up.

Rather not draw more attention to it.

Thanks everyone for the help I'm going to keep it the way it is until I lower the car then I may trim it like I illustrated.

That looks really nice on a silver car, but I bet it would stand out really bad on any other color.
