Default No grille mod?

I've noticed a lot of people on here trash their stock plastic grilles and just leave it with the two big air ducts showing. I think that'd look pretty cool on my car with some black mesh screen covering the ducts like on a tran am. Anyone tried anything similar and does anyone have pics? Anyone get pulled for not having a front plate?

1: It's also ugly because you see the mounting tabs for the grill.
2: The holes are not air ducts. If you decide to take off the grill you'll just see the bumper support.
3: You may get pulled over for no front plate depending on your state law. I've driven in CA for over a year with no front but not often do I leave my county.

I have seen a few cars that used a wire mesh to cover those openings and kind of hide the bumper foam. They didn't look too bad and most of the materials came right from Home Depot. I am thinking about doing something to mine as I too would like to dress it up a bit. Some black mesh ought to look nice in there. And eventually the OE grille holes will be filled and the front cap repainted so it is all smooth!

Well, basically I would suggest painting your current grill and maybe filling in the "CAMARO" letters rather than just taking it off. Or you could dish out for an SLP grill or an old style Wings West or RKSport that have no lettering on them.

Personally I really dislike the OE grille with the 3 slits on each side. I prefer the two larger openings. I also like how taking the grille cover off adds some depth to the front end of the car. Just need to finish the openings off with some mesh so the foam is not as evident right behind it.

I did the no grille mod on my car and I get compliments all the time. I went to Home Depot and got some mesh, put it in holes and filled in the CAMARO letters with vinyl decals. I would like to fill in the holes but it doesnt look "ugly" like that one guy says. Check it out in my cardomain site.

I can try it and if i dont like it i can put it back on. I think the factory z28 grille looks like a cheap afterthought personally. It sucks. The painted letters just make it look even more cheap. I wonder what it would look like painted black like the older model camaros.

Yeah, just go pull it off. Very simple. You WILL lose the clips that hold it on, but you don't really need them. If you want to put it back on just sit it in place. It won't fall off.

try it... you'll see that either you need to fill the mounting holes or get an aftermarket grill

What do you use to fill in the holes?

Or you can ditch the grill and bumper support and fabricate a custom air intake like I and many others have done. Although i put on a billet grill so you cant see the ducts now

I agree but if the holes were filled it would look great. Hoping someone could tell me how to do it.

Mine had passages to under the hood. it would exit near the windshield washer tank. or in back of it near the black air dam/shroud for the radiator/AC condensor.

I had my grill off for the longest time. I've recently added a Black Bowtie grille. Like the SLP one.

There's a guy on another board that filled the holes in. His father did body work or something. He's on Cardomain also. Can't remember his handle.

one thing yall gotta thing about also, is that if u had a front plate mounted at one time, the holes go into the bumper underneath the grill.
