Arrow Painting my intake

I thought I'd post a poll on peoples thoughts on painting my the LS6 intake I got recently. I just am not sure what to do. The only trouble I see with painting it with flames like the car is it the design wont flow very well due to the bumps. The type flames like I have on the car need a flat surface in my opinion but who knows I might be able to get it to look right. Also if I went with true flames would it clash with the other flames? I have also thought of just painting it pewter to match the body of the car and even pondered orange but I think that might be too garish??

That's what I've been leaning more towards....Blue Tumbler said they would look good too. But I think the True Flames would need to be the same colors as the ones on the car to look right. Maybe I should photoshop it

I like just pewter, but if there were flames on it the same color as your bumper's, then it would look good.

If Tumbler thinks they will look good, they will.

Dont mix true fire with the flames you already have, it wont look good at all. Go with pewter or that red matching the flames

I picked to go with the flames already on your car, but pewter would also look very good and not be too busy. Can't go wrong either way imo.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. So now it's either pewter or pewter w matching flames like the car. My concern now is the temp the intake gets to and the paint holding up. I've talked to Stryker about it and he didnt use any high temp paint but when I didnt and did my FRC's the paint bubbled up and really looked bad. Could be just because it was regular can paint but not sure. Anyway I'd use high temp paint this time and although it wont be an exact match I hopefully can get it close to the colors. Otherwise I may just go with a pewter color and play it safe

u have a point, pewter would be less hassle and a lot harder to screw up color wise... either way should look good, keep us updated!

Flames arent red Spuds......they are orange. It's PPG's Orangerot to be specific Its a color that was supposedly only on the Porsches. It was the closest to the original candy orange I had on there that the painter could find. One day I saw a Porsche in that color going down the road....was very pretty . Never saw one again

I'm liking pewter.
True fire would look off I think.
I do like your style of flame over true fire tho, so I guess im biased.
I see the front flames as more cartoonish than what the true fire stuff would look.
If you could do pewter matching the engine bay and body, and do the flames similar to the front, that would be ideal.
If your doing the Lid aswell, i'd almost like to see, more orange there and fade to purple around the intake, to keep with the feel of the hood all throughout the engine bay.
But that's just me.
Who's doing the painting, sounds like a tough job.

I agree with the majority here on matching the flames like the car. I thought the true fire would clash. I'll be doing the painting. I've already done the lid a few years ago and the interior but would like to redo it as I think I can do it better the 2nd time around. I've contacted a company for the engine paint to see if I can at least get color chart to see if I can get a close match to all the colors I need.

Here's a pic of what the engine bay looks like now minus the FRC's.
