what to use to get paint off of the intake
well guys i just bought a ls6 intake and the guy i bought it from had it painted like a glossy silver color. my car is pewter, but i like that black look better that the stock manifold has. my guess is that this is just rattle can paint on the intake... so what should i use to get that stuff off? any help is greatly apprecaited. thanks alot

well thats the thing i didnt want to have to paint it... you know just get that paint that is on there off and have a stock looking intake. but i guess a flat black paint job will have to be in line. or would a semi gloss black look better?!?

ull get the paint off with stripper with no sanding...... just alot of effort and time still easier then sanding and not destroying it, why not sell the painted one and find a stock one if it bothers u so much

Lot of bad info here. First, if it was rattle can paint on there, do NOT spray over top of it. Guaranteed there was no adhesion promoter used and it will start peeling. Number two, do not try to sand it off. Your arm will fall off. Use the lacquer thinner method I suggested or if you really want to get it off fast, use some Aircraft Stripper. Finally, you do NOT need high temp paint.
I've done many, many intakes, not to mention 100's of sets of fuel rail covers.
Look at my sticky in the Appearance Section on how to paint plastics and follow that. You'll be fine.

Bryan.....I'm not doubting what you say about not using high temp paint but can you tell me why when my FRC's were painted using adhesion promotor and primed why they bubbled up really bad. Then they were painted by someone else a second time who does FRC's all the time and they bubbled up too. Can you tell me why that was so I know what went wrong?
