I left my garage open and....
I left my garage open and.... Some took my Porter Cable 7424 DA polisher. I'm pissed!!!! So I am deciding between these two polishers to replace my old faithfull 7424. The MAKITA #9227C or the HITACHI 18VAH 7 INCH POLISHER. Both will suit my purposes and there is only a $10 difference in price. The Hitachi does have a 5 year warrantee and is a little lighter. Help me pick which one to buy.
why are you replacing your DA with a rotary?
if you liked the PC, buy another one.. if you want a rotary, buy one, but they are not interchangable tools.
The Makita is a very nice tool, and I would take it over the Hitachi, if you are looking for a good rotary.
if you are looking to replace your PC, there are several places online that have them cheap, (don't think any sponsors carry them)
try ADS .. they have a Meg's G100, several pads, backing plate and a nice duffle for under $150, plus you get the lifetime guarantee on the PC.

Sorry about your luck. Just make sure to close your garage next time. I actually didn't care for my PC that much. I could never get the hard water stains out without compounding the car to death with the PC. I borrowed a friends Makita rotary polisher and made short work of tham. I have a fair amount of experience using rotary polishers on vry faded paint jobs. I think I haave found the perfect polisher though, it a Makita BO6040 6" Random Orbit Sander, 6.6 AMP, 1,600-5,800 OPM, var. spd., 2-mode selector. It does both Random Orbit and rotary polishing.
