Haha... Gangster Lean.. that was funny. If you look at my seat, it looks like a gangster drives it. But if you look at the seat while Im sitting in it...it really is just that Im in a comfortable position. I think my 3rd gen is the most comfortable car Ive been in. My Jeep would take a close second place.

Anyway...I definetly want to ditch my back seats. But that means a custom main hoop because all of the kits contain a main hoop formed to go infront of the rear seats. Like DONAIMIAN said... The only problem with that is basically that I dont have a tubing bender. Or else Ide just build the whole darn thing from scratch. Those off the shelf cages are so tempting because of their prices...and its all bent and notched already.

Hey..isnt there something in the rule books about the main hoop being able to be tilted back a certain amount? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere. Something about being able to pitch the main hoop towards the rear of the car alittle bit in order to make room for the proper helmet clearance which is like 4" or something... Can anyone confirm or shoot that down???

Anyways, look how close the car comes to your head !!! I'm afraid that if I were rear ended my head could get whipped back into it...

Are these made only for racing when you'd be wearing a helmet? Should I pad it? Any input is appreciated...
What kind of a bar is that? looks like the back seat can still come down ???

LG Motorsports and yes, the back seat is still able to competely fold down

Found out my camera is gone for good... I left it either at Chili's or the movie theater right after I snapped the most recent pics of the seats in the car

Oh well, it was past time for a new one anyways !!!

Im 6' and my bros SS rollcage is completely out of reach if my head snaps back. Rolling over is a diff. story. Also, it takes less then you think to require a cage, 11.49 and below and one is required.

If you want to be safe... 5 point, pad the bar, and get a non-reclinable race seat. If it were me i would pad it, 5 point, and at least get a seat that was race certified.

Yeah, after quite a bit of research I decided a rollbar was not for me... FAR too many chances of being hurt far worse while street driving...

I mean, my car is definitly beyond the pwoer levels a rollbar is needed for the track, hell i technically need a full cage, but since I built as a 'ultimate street' type setup vs a straight race setup, and since I have 4 kids and like to take a few of them with me on cruises and such, a rollbar is even out of the question...

Even if I were to give up teh rear seat all together, the amount of damage you would sustain by getting t-boned with a rollbar is unacceptable... Most sidebar cut right across where most peoples shoulders would sit, thus in an accident you are taking the full hit of the bar... Not to mention the other comments people have mentioned with the upper bar...

Ideally, the only rollbar I would accept would be one that is build at the extreme outer perimeter, in that it would basically sit right against the sidepanels an droof within 1/8" or right against it... This would require custom molding all the interior panels to sit above the bar, basically hiding it as well...

Even though not 'legal' I would also opt for a removeable back bar...

I have talked to a race chassis builder about building a rollbar with my specs, and it would have to be done in chromemoly and with an estimate of $3200-5000 based on how much custom interior panel work needs to be done... But the rollbar would be hidden, strong as hell and properly designed to make sure I, nor my passengers, would be hurt due to it being installed...

Rollbars and cages should only be used if needed to be safe and legal at the track. They aren't intended for the street or for a fashion show. Unless the bar/cage is a nhra/ihra legal cage why would it even need to be in a car? If needed then padding is the only option but they are still intended to be used in conjunction with a certified helmet even with the padding.
