Default Back from the Paint shop......

Friday night we picked my car up from the body shop but I had got a sneak peak at it Wednesday. The owner of the shop is the best! They do superb work and he gave me a great price. They spent alot of time on it trying to get the color to match the headlight doors and fenders. I wasnt sure of what the previous painter had done and all attempts to contact him failed. They painted it twice and finally on the third try put a chromoillusion base and got it to match the headlight doors perfectly but it wasnt quite matching the fenders. He said he got it 90% match but if it were him he wouldnt be happy with it since he's picky. I said I was too when it comes to color so I went over there to take a look at it on Wednesday. When they brought it out in the sun the color really popped...looked prettier then I'd ever remembered it! I could see a difference in the fenders....just didnt have that metallic/pearl to it and he explained why. The other painter just did a lousy job of mixing the paints and applying them and he didnt clear each color as he went along so when he faded the purple into the orange it muddied it resulting in a flattish look . I always noticed the fenders looked rather dull. He also told me he was pretty sure all the trouble I had with the previous bumper and now the flames on the hood were the result of him mixing different products together that werent meant to be.

Anyway total to have the bumper primed/painted and fenders blended was $635. This weekend we took a few pics of it so here they are:

Thanks . It's going to take some getting used to not having the ground effects. I've been driving so slowly into parking lots for the past 4 years because of the gfx scraping everything. I've had to avoid going in some places altogether with it! Seems this area loves to have dips in every entrace of stores/shopping centers The past couple days its been so nice to not hear the scraping I am so used to!

Yeah finally got it all fixed. Took forever and a day to get the bumper...was quite a fiasco . I like it better without the front gfx too.

Yeah I have been thinking about that. I know a guy who has done the hatch swap and put badges on his car that say "trans formula". I'm not sure what to do.

You finally got it fixed, nice work. I have been wondering the progress of your paint ever since I saw the pics of it all messed up.

Looks real good and I like it without the GFX as well...any plans for a diff hood? I think it would look mean with ws9 or vfn cowl hood.
