Cool Push Start Button

Just wanted to get some feedback from some of you that have this Push Button Start Mod ... i see that some people like and others hate it ... personally I think its diffrent and would like to try this.

My question is if anyone has had problems with this mod? I saw where someone on here spliced into the wire (instead of cut) so that the car could still be started with turning the key ... Would like to see some pics and get some feedback ... no bashing please .. if this thread isnt for u please dont post negative/ bashing comments ...

I like it too. Should be no problems with it. I have a push start on my trucks and tractors. I plan to put on on the SS one day. Very simple to do.

do you still have to have the car key in the "run" position when you do this? or does this bypass that all together. i remember a friend had this in his truck, but he still had to turn the key in the ignition to run, so basically all it did was add an extra step to starting the car...

I have an "ignited" start button. Pretty much the same as the S2000, but has a little different hook-up. I spliced the starter wire (thick yellow wire) in my installation so I could still use the key if needed. I also stuck it where the cig lighter is (was). 2+ years and no problems what so ever.
Like you, I did the mod to be different, but this when only a hand full of cars had start buttons, now it seems like a lot more cars have them factory installed...go figure.
here's the write up that most people use:
http://www.pitreweb.com/s2000sw.htm

edit: And yes, the key still needs to be put in the "on" position to power the button and disarm VATS (the fact that VATS is still opperational means that the button doesn't make it easer for someone to steal the car), so technically you do add a step to starting the car, but it's become second nature to me and takes an extra second to do, so unless I'm making a quick get away James Bond style, it doesn't bother me

at first i wanted to do it but than i thought, do i really want to twist my key all the way than have to push a button. Too much of a hassle turning on the car.

Damn I didn't know it was that easy. Where do you get the push start button from? I know out of an S2000 but where can it be purchased?

i did mine like 2 years ago, no problems yet, i didnt use a s2000 switch, found another one, it lights up blue, the key needs to be on the on position for it to start, and you dont have to turn the key to start and press the button at the same time, that would be hassle.
def. a cool mod.

yes but i did cut the starter wire and splice into it so that you can't just turn the key i thought it kinda defeated the purpose of the button. I also put a toggle switch in my ash tray to turn off the push button starter. the reason for this is so when your driving down the road and one of your buddies hits that button you don't get the grinding(chilling) noise of the starter or you don't need to do that just run a double relay, but i liked the extra switch since i don't need an ash tray anyways.

I don't think any sponsors carry these, but I've seen them new on ebay, and of course the Honda dealership. Just look up s2000 start button and ignited start button on ebay and google, and see what turns up.

you can get them off ebay all day. Yes you will still need the key to unlock the steering wheel!

Can't you bypass that by using the correct resistor (matched to your key) when hooking up the start button?

Downside: Anyone can start your car without a key, so you better not park your car in public places.
