I saw in another thread where a guy converted a hardtop 3rd gen to a 'vert. Is this even a remote possibility on a 4th gen? Would I need to cut the entire rear subframe/body off and attach one from a 'vert car?

i never seen anyone do it to a 4 gen but have seen it done to other car and i think its more work then its worth. You would end up messing up your car, its a nightmare. If you want a vert that bad i would just go buy one.

I have already converted my exterior from a 1995 Formula to an LS1 T/A. I have owned this car over 8yrs, not ever gonna sell it and I'm certanly not gonna buy a second Fbody. This car is not my daily driver and sits in the garage 95% of the time.
I figure I could gut the back half of the car inside and out. Then cut it off and weld the new back half on. As long as I got an LT1 donor, I cold even use the gas tank that comes on the new rear. I also figure I wold just hot wire the top motor to the batt and fuse it seperatly to avoid getting into my factory fuse box.
I need to know how the windshield pillars differ at the top between a Ttop car and a 'vert though.

do you have any idea how hard and time consuming it is to cut a car in half? Take it from someone who knows, unless your a top notch body man dont you dare try to cut that car in half or youre gonna have a hunk of crap thats twisted, not lined up, taller on one side then the other and all the problems that go with it

Well, It needs to be reinforced before cutting, thats a given. I have not ever done it myself, but have seen it done several times at a body shop I used to work at. I wouldn't attempt to do this myself, as a one man operation or anything. I work closely with my paint/body guy, were working on my shaker hood right now in fact.
