I'd try:
1. Dawn wash and claybar prep
2. 3M swirl remover (#39009 if you can get it)
3. alcohol/water wipedown
4. Z5 Pro
5. Z2 Pro or Z6 spray

3M 39009 might or might not be enough to take care of your swirls, etc.

GM clearcoat is quite hard. This may be a difficult task by hand. 3M Machine Glaze is probably the strongest thing I would try by hand.

If "easier to work with" means more effective for removing swirls and scratches, yes For heavy swirling, with the PC you might even try 3M #39002 which is a step or two more abrasive than the swirl removers.
